Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for a conference we run called 'SQL trail'. Our tag phrase is 'We'll see you on the SQL trail' and the conference is a type unconference where attendees can pick the sessions and hands on labs they will attend. There is great emphasis on connecting with the attendees and participating in the discussion.

The origin of the name is a hiking trail where you need a guide to help you on your path. There has been a bit of confusion around the hiking idea and we want to emphasize the technology conference and connecting over the hiking/trail name. The final design should communicate connecting with other technology professionals in fun way.

As we are in database technology, we would like to incorporate our database logo into the design as a compliment to the conference logo.
As the company logo is yellow and blue, I would like to use different but complimenting colors for this new logo.

We would like the logo text to be optional, meaning we can use the logo with or without the text.

The original conference name was companero conference and the url for the old site is http://companeroconference.com the new URL will be sqltrail.com; however, the site is not yet available.

We use our podcast to advertise for the conference and the podcast logo has been included for reference.
