Web Design Brief

I'm a new writer of literary fiction. Several of my short stories have been published in literary journals, with more to come. I'm working on my first novel, and one of my stories will be featured in a "best of" anthology that will hit bookstores soon. I am not online at all at the moment (allergic to social media), but I would like readers, editors and agents to be able to find me if they like my work. Also, I'm told that editors and agents are more likely to take a chance with a writer who promotes her work online, hence my project. I've uploaded a few of my (very short) stories to give you the flavor of who I am as a writer. I write for adults, and my fiction has a dark edge to it. Not Stephen King dark, not GOT dark, more like unhappy people trying to make their way in a world that demands happiness. If I were so lucky as to write a movie, I'd write a quirky, brooding, independent film, not a summer blockbuster. Think Manchester by the Sea, not Titanic. Thank you for your help!

Requirements

Must have

• Weight. I write serious stories, and I want that to come through. I will want to add links to my stories that are published online, notices for upcoming speaking engagements, publications, news, etc. I'll want a Bio section or page. I really don't know how many pages would be optimal, so I'm open to suggestions.

Nice to have

• Darker colors, but not anything obvious like black. Please resist the temptation to incorporate roses into your design.

Should not have

• Anything cute or fussy. I like clean lines, simple designs that draw you in with their beauty.
