Logo Design Brief

Over seven years ago we relocated to a new facility that we built on one of the main roads on Long Island in the metro New York City area. At that time, we changed our name and had a logo designed (the file is included). Back then we did not know what to emphasize so we did the best we could.

Now, seven years later, we know the emphasis should be on the words "Living Faith." We would like two styles of logo concept to consider as we are about to open another building and need new signage. If a design is accepted, we will be changing all our signage to reflect it. Therefore, the words must be legible on a business card and on large exterior custom signage.

The first style we are interested in is based on our current design. However, we would like to use upper and lower style font with emphasis on the "Living Faith" with a smaller "Christian Church" (that could be all caps-up to designer) in the design. This logo could include the current icon with the branches making the cross. However, the stones around it have been hard for people to identify. Therefore, the design could use something else to frame the cross. If the stones are still used, perhaps the colors are made uniform and/or shapes tweaked. Also, we believe the perspective between icon and name should change. Currently the icon is larger and we believe the name should be the primary thing.

The second version we would like to see would be something where the name itself is the logo without this icon (or probably any). We have considered a signature style perhaps with a "swipe" below. But, so far those we have seen looked to feminine, fancy, and/or would be too difficult to read as signage. Still, we would like to see a solid concept with the name expressing some action or life. We are known for doing things right and professional. When we do something we do it right to the best of our ability. Also, we have invested heavily in creating a warm and inviting environment. The logo design (especially as any kind of signature or similar design) would need to reflect the same. Thus far none have.

Our building has a large green roof which is why that color was used. We want to keep a green. However, it does not have to be the same shade. We think a little more life might be desirable in the color as long as it is not extreme.

Brown is another color in the facility. That is why it was used in the original design. However, that is not an absolute requirement for the name and logo anymore. It is up to the designer. Again, emphasis on looking sharp, professional, clean, inviting, and clear. The current logo is too long and hurts signage. Something shorter (horizontally) is preferred with both designs.

Attached are the original design. We attempted others and previously had another competition with another website. We did not include these as none were selected. However, we have them if they are of any value.

Again, we need sharp, warm, clear, and inviting. Something that reflects we know what we are doing and serious about it. But, a design that makes people sense faith is living and active in this place. If all that is possible, yours will be chosen and we will all be happy! Otherwise, thanks for trying.

Included some of our in-house attempts at the logo redesign as well. None were right.

Requirements

Must have

• Warm, inviting, attractive, professional, and clear. The emphasis should be on the words "Living Faith." We anticipate it would have 2 or three colors, but could have more. The design must utilize a green color. However, it could be a little different or brighter than our current design if that would look better. Brown has been the other color but could now change.

Nice to have

• We would like to see a redesign of our current logo with new typeface and updated version of the icon. At least one design should maintain the green branches that make up the cross in current icon. But, we also want to see a design that focuses on the words "Living Faith" as the primary design. That could include other design features but not our current or another iconic symbol.
• PLEASE NOTE ALMOST NO ONE HAS SUBMITTED A DESIGN THAT FOCUSES ON THE WORDS "LIVING FAITH" WITHOUT ANOTHER SYMBOL. WE REQUESTED SOME KIND OF SIGNATURE STYLE FOR THAT REASON. SO FAR WE ARE STILL WAITING TO SEE THESE EXAMPLES AS WELL.

Should not have

• Gothic look, overly trendy design, or standard clip art symbols. Nor should the design look completely traditional. Fonts that are difficult to read will not be considered. We are looking for a custom design to replace a custom design. Any design that looks like it was combined some standard art pieces will not be considered.
