I am looking for a book cover (ebook and paperback) for the first part of a fantasy trilogy for kids and teenagers (age 10-14). Here are some details:
Title: Weltenmaler (German Title) (Roughly translates as someone who paints worlds)
Subtitle: Laya
Author: N. C. Frey
Synopsis: Paint your dreamworld. What starts as a annoying group project in art class, catapults Mimi, Till, Jonas and Clara into Laya, the dream world they have painted, come to life.
Befriending Lafytes (purple giraffes), flying on Gnarrs (flying dinosaurs) they soon discover that the world is endangered, as are they. Will they find a way to save Laya from the evil Bayones (kind of like black oil with claws), or find their way back home?
Requirements: Front, back cover and spine (length ca. 150 pages - since I want to publish in English and German, I will need the original files so I can adapt the text of the covers for different markets)
Style: The cover should look adventurous and colorful.
Ideas: For this first of three novellas 4 young teens paint a group canvas with four quadrants described in chapter 2 of the novel. (draft, short read, doc attached) Some version of the canvas they paint or elements of it seems to have a lot of potential for the basis of the book cover. Open to ideas.
If things go well I would probably want to work with the same artist for the two other books of the trilogy. In all 3 parts of the trilogy the 4 teens get transported through artwork into other places. A paint brush or art supplies might be a motif to bind the covers.
FYI:
Book 2: Same four teens get transported back to Paris of the 1880’s after getting drawn into Manet’s Masked Ball.
Book 3: Same four teens get transported to modern New York after viewing a graffiti artist’s work in Berlin.

Requirements
Must have
- Some kind of tie in to art and painting. Elements of the painting described in the story.
Nice to have
- Maybe depictions of the four characters, but that is pretty open.
Should not have
- Should not be dark. The book is more of a fun adventure.
