Web Design Brief

The gallery represents a variety of contemporary African artist, We require two web pages.
1. an artist home page showing thumbnails of an artist's artworks. An example of our current one is

2. a home page for a new monthly exhibition called red paint. This home page will show 10 artworks, a picture of the artist and multimedia content on the artist.

The site
The idea of our site was to create a modern, minimalist, uncluttered site – almost a white wall that enables people view the pictures easily. We also wanted a site that was unusual to some extent.

We wish to change The artist home page on our site
On our site each artist has a home page that displays thumbnails of all his artworks so the user can click on each thumbnail to look at a larger picture. In creating the artist home page we chose to go with a sliding picture display that holds all the thumbnails of the artworks and enables users slide to the thumbnail they desire. While we like this slide display, we have come to feel that it isn’t very user-friendly, especially if you’re using a tablet without a mouse. So we have decided to redo the artist page to something more user-friendly.

The new artist homepage
We’re hoping we can get a design that is still interesting and unusual while providing a more user-friendly way for people to look at all the thumbnails of each artist. It must still keep with our original vision of the site – uncluttered and elegant.



Red paint home page
Red paint is a new idea we intend to try and we would like a home page design for it.

What Red paint is
The idea of red paint is to provide our site visitors with an in-depth look at one new artist every month. The featured artist will have his picture, images of his artworks, video clips and pdfs of him to provide viewers with a detailed view of that artist for a one-month period. At the end of the one month the page will be sent to an archive page and a new artist will be featured for the month.

A red paint home page design is required.
This home page should fit the uncluttered look of the gallery site
But should be interesting and fun
It will feature a picture of the artist
Artworks by the artist
Thumbnails for multimedia files like pdfs, videos etc.
It should feature a link to an archive page.
