Logo Design Brief

We are seeking a sleek, sophisticated logo design for our new company based in Washington, D.C. called BlackStart Innovation, LLC ("BlackStart Inno" for short). Our mission is to deliver vital resources to and breakdown barriers for entrepreneurs solving key energy security challenges (e.g., reimagining resiliency into energy grids, diversifying supply with cleaner energy sources, or developing cutting edge technology for energy system analysis, management, and training). BlackStart Inno achieves this mission by uniquely addressing problem-opportunity sets from a tri-sector lens: energy, national security, and tourism, guiding dual application energy solutions that both serve the greater good and cater to an economic sector (hospitality and tourism) that makes up ~10% of world GDP, improving our clients’ energy security while boosting economic output. Further, we work to incorporate military veterans every step of the way, developing the competencies of our nation’s heroes in the STEAM-based energy sector, and providing them with a new mission to serve. Through strategic integration of regional incubator and accelerator programs, competency-based education and training programs, federal and private-equity funds, an extensive network of serial business, government, and military veteran leaders as mentors, and advanced storytelling and media activities, BlackStart Inno is exclusive in its ability to design, develop, and support sustainable ecosystems for energy innovation, solving society's toughest problems. We are open to various color schemes and font styles. The final design should communicate a solid blend of D.C. sophistication and savvy with a playful Silicon Valley innovation vibe.

Must have

• The color black with maybe one or two other colors in contrast. A sophisticated, sleek design that has a good balance between seriousness and playfulness. We are creative innovators first and foremost, but also strategy consultants with a realistic view of the world. Just the words blackstart and innovations eem to fit that mold, with blackstart sounds very formidable and intimidating, and then innovation (or inno) sounding so open and welcoming.

Nice to have

• Maybe options between "BalckStart Innovation" and a more laid back version "BlackStart Inno."

Should not have

• Anything cheesy related to energy or electricity, like lightbulbs, lightning bolts, solar panels, or wind turbines.
