Web Design Brief

Task Description

This is the task description that I used for the Logo, please us it as a reference for the “message” of the company.

The name of the Company is "Direct Beam Incorporated". We build highly efficient antennas that make a direct connection between communication points that make use of highly focus radio beams that support extremely high data rates (wireless internet) over the air.

The reference used for, antenna gain (the measure of an antennas' ability to focus/concentrate energy (radio energy) into a beam is measured by the antennas gain, which uses the Unit dBi, (decibels relative to an isotropic), and these are the initials of our corporate name. Antennas of high gain are focused like a laser, while the reference (isotropic) is a sphere or ball, radiating equally in all directions. The earth is a sphere. Think of Global Communications, as we will offer our products to all parts of the Globe, connecting people with vital information.

I like the feeling of "Direct" as it is definitive, and the idea of the "Beam" in that it carries information, so the main message is contained in the first two words "Direct Beam" and Incorporated completes the idea and ties to the reference "dBi".

Our tag lines is: "Setting the standard for communications"

I have some 3D antenna patterns (shape of the energy in a 3 dimensional rendering). The colors that are chosen for the rainbow scale are, from most intense to lower intensity, red, sliding through orange to yellow, followed by green and then blue. I also like black for strong contrast. The radiated beam could be outlined in a strong color like black or blue, with a orange/red core color denoting temperature or intense heat (high energy / plasma). My thought of a logo would be a simple but strong image that somehow brings together the descriptions given above, possibly with a intense "beam" as described and possibly in the colors described, as long as the image does not get too "busy" or complex.

Don't feel confined by the use of any particular colors, just use your imagination and see if there is a simple strong image that brings the message home.

Please find the enclosed links to 3 website that I like, that are in my industry, which is Business to Business in Communications, both Government and Commercial.

Hopefully you can make use of reusing code, so please find something that fits the simple needs that I have.

The first looks too simple for me. The Graphics are too simple, with solid colors, and not too interesting.

The second is Harris Corporation is probably over the top, with the main graphics fanning out to each side. This is a nice effect, but not at all necessary.

I like to top “ribbon” selection” that open into outlined in solid color, filled rounded rectangles. It has a solid look. ( HOME COMPANY MARKETS/SOLUTIONS….)

I like the single page, with information on the bottom of the page, so you do not have to drill down to see what they are about.

The following is probably the closest to what I may really need. This is smaller company, certainly smaller than Harris, but not so personal as the smallest TQ, that includes the designers resume.

I like the top of the site to resemble our Business Cards, Letterhead, showing our Logo with full Globe Background, (EPS file) which is enclosed in this mail.

I want to look like a serious company, displaying decades of experience, helping to build our Global Wireless communication system, that we all enjoy today.

I will be writing a Mission Statement, that will be included in the About US, or History Section. I would like to have an area for testimonials, as I have offers from some significant companies that would be happy to provide feedback on our design capabilities.

I like that the areas above, when hovered show the pull down without having to actually select the item.

I will enclose, if you send me your e-mail the files to assist... "my favorite" is the Logo, that I like best. I think that the lines and continents on the Globe need to be brought out better so they can be seen. I am including the source files (.eps & .rar)

I will be glad to include other JPEGs of logos that are of different colors on white background. The "tag line" under the name should always be "Setting the Standard for Communications" and not "We set..."
