Where the logo can be modernised without losing its character then experiment. The main thing is to have a corporate branding which can be used later for brochures, Business Plan infographics.
The prominent colour within the organisation is burnt orange with no secondary colour. However if you believe a secondary colour is needed then use it, otherwise keep it simple and classy. Any chosen colours have to match perfectly.
