Logo Design Brief

***Update*** April 12

After receiving over 170 submissions, there is only 5-10 designs remaining that have not been eliminated.

90% of the submissions were very sub-par and looked like they were made in less then 10 minutes.

That means there is still plenty of opportunity to submit a design that can win.

Please continue to submit designs and make sure you read the description and check the references. Your submission will have to be at least as good as some of the references that I uploaded to win. Please make your best effort!!

Please do not submit designs with un-edited text or standard fonts that are re-arranged. A flowing script or a edited design will be required in order to compete against the current top 3. As it stands right now, making something that wins will be a matter of preference so anything that meets the quality standards will still be considered.

I have received a few submissions from designers that are inching closer towards the desired result. Please make sure you are creating a unique graphic, that is very close to the reference examples provided. I am going to add a 2nd and 3rd place prize so please spend a decent amount of time making the best piece of artwork that you possibly can for this contest. I have included a set of rules below. Look at some of the top submissions for an idea for what I am looking for, as well as the references, please don't submit logos for a business or business card.


***Project Description***

I would like a logo designed for my music project. I am a progressive trance artist where the music is made to sound vast, open, and etheral and emotional. I would like something that fits the name, something expressive looking and flowing would be great. Logos that I like from other artists are like Alesso, and Sebastian Ingrosso, and Daft Punk, also retro logos like the Prince text for Purple Reign would be considered if they are 80's style. Tommy Trash's logo would be a great example of that.



***RULES***
1. ) No templates
2.) Don't submit the same design over different backgrounds more then once
3.) Don't use a distressed or paintbrush font without editing, where two of the same letters are identical. Create a unique design just as you would with a paintbrush or a pencil.


Nearing the end of the contest any submissions that are a 100% no will be eliminated and any designers that did not follow the project description will be eliminated from making further submissions.

I am adding a 2nd and 3rd place prize to the project so please compete with your best design.

Requirements

Must have

• Something that looks like other artist logos that are on gig and festival posters, so not too much additonal objects besides the text, and also something that looks good in one color, so if its in flat black or flat white it still looks good. A colorful version would be great though too.

Nice to have

• Colors, as well as an icon or non-text logo.

Should not have

• Too many additional objects or features, or anything requiring multiple colors or drop shadows or 3d elements or things like that. This is a project that requires image design, not just using a standard font and changing a few colors. I encourage some geometric editing of the lettering, to create a unique piece of artwork. Please do not just edit a template for a standard business logo, or just choose a font and re-arrange it. Please check the reference examples and make it similar to a logo for a music act.
• Do not submit multiple copies of the same logo superimposed onto different backgrounds, like business cards. This just creates more work to eliminate them individually.
