Logo Design Brief
This one is a challenge. I manage a classic main street art deco movie theater that opened in 1947. When we opened in 1947, the front of our marquee had a neon sign of a bird of paradise (which is a tropical bird). It was 1947, so the design was crude. I'm attaching a couple of photos of the theater as it was it 1947 and of the original neon bird. What we would like done is to have a new bird of paradise created (for eventual use on a brushed aluminum sign) that evokes/homages/emulates the look of that original sign with some updates for the modern century. If the new bird of paradise could have a similar shape and have a neon look to it, that would be awesome. In the picture of the old bird (attached) what you are looking at is the plumage, feathers, head and beak of the bird. You have carte blanche to design, as we are not necessarily looking for a perfect replica, but keep in mind that we are trying to homage our history. The bird of paradise should not be cartoony. No text, just the bird. And we would also like the color samples I'm attaching (pink & teal) to be the primary colors of the bird. Accent colors are okay but pink and teal is our current color scheme. I'm also attaching a cool picture of a bird of paradise for reference and inspiration. Please contact me if there are any further questions.

There have been some nice designs so far. Please keep trying different things. Remember, this design is for a 1940s style movie theatre and is supposed to homage our classic sign. Any touch of art deco or style of bird evoking the vibe of that time period will score major points. Added Friday, April 7, 2017
There have been some very nice, clean bird designs so far. Thank you for all your hard work! Please continue to submit designs. Don't hesitate to ask for more directions. There have yet to be any submissions that evoke an art deco feel. Please remember we're an art deco themed movie theater from the 1940s and we love that style. Added Saturday, April 8, 2017
Hi All,There have been so many excellent bird designs so far! The one thing there hasn't been much of is attempts to recreate the design of the neon sign from the 40s. We love all the new bird designs, but we also feel real drawn to the original look and shape of the old sign. As we wind down the contest, special considerations will be made to those who try to recreate the original look of the sign instead of a new bird (as lovely as those designs are).Regards,Jake (Paradise Theatre) Added Sunday, April 9, 2017
Hi All--With just one more day to go I thought it might be helpful to add a picture of the theatre itself right now (color scheme, positioning, etc.). Please view it in the attachments to the brief.Regards,Jake (Paradise Theatre) Added Monday, April 10, 2017
