Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for our brand new, purpose built, early childhood centre, for signage on our buildings, staff uniforms, formal letter head, business cards etc.

Our Early Childhood Centre will be called "Your Place". It will be very natural looking, filled with natural resources, and with an amazing three-tiered garden for young children to explore. There will be no plastic anywhere, or bright colours. Rather, big logs, a water pump that the children can create a stream with - then dam up, lots of different sized trees and plants, wooden stumps to sit on, sensory garden paths to explore, lots of wildlife, a mud kitchen, carpentry shed etc.

My initial ideas for a logo included a 'hand offering a home away from home' to families with young children. A place where they can expect nurturing, caring, well educated caregivers/teachers, and where they will and their children will be empowered to be the best they can be. We don't want the lettering of the name of our centre "Your Place" to be too complicated as we want our children to be able to 'read' the name of their 'home away from home' long term. I also had the idea of a person holding their arms out (in the shape of a 'Y') for the word 'Your' with a Pohutakawa tree (in the shape of a 'P' for the word 'Place', with a house like shape representing their 'home away from home'. I hope this makes sense to you.
