Logo Design Brief

I work at an environmental non-profit called Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy in Hendersonville, NC and need a logo for an upcoming trail race I'm organizing in western North Carolina. Details can be found at http://www.bearwallowbeast.com, but the essential details are as follows:

Name: Bearwallow Beast 5K & Honey and Hops Festival

Date: May 5, 2012

Location: Gerton, NC

We use Pantone 350, 583, and 129 in our branding but these colors are not an absolute must for the race logo. I've attached our own logo below for reference.

As the race is to the top of a mountain, this will be a very grueling event, and I'm looking for the logo to reinforce this. My initial idea was for a ferocious looking bear with a honey jar and beer mug nearby, but I am by no means set on it. Three colors would be preferred for printing services, but are also negotiable.

In addition to the logo, I would like a design incorporating the logo and details of the event suitable for a t-shirt. If the logo design is deemed suitable for a shirt, this step may be eliminated.

We will guarantee as soon as we have a workable design.
