Logo Design Brief

I need a logo design for a new Japanese Canadian themed Karate Martial Arts Overnight / Sleep Away Camp. The purpose of this event is to come together and train with like-minded traditional martial artists, to train, share, learn, make new friends, and re-unite with our old friends. It will have a family atmosphere and exceptional martial arts and weapons training. It is a school trip held in the summer time complementing the curriculum through joint activities to strengthen the community feeling, such as hiking, campfire, food preparation,

What does Camp Toraguchi mean? Toraguchi – “Tiger’s Mouth” or “Mouth of the Tiger”

Symbolism 1: Tigers are ferocious, powerful, courageous, fearless, independent
Symbolism 2: The tiger is one of the animals of the 5 original Shaolin fists
Symbolism 3: The toraguchi is also the name of one of our karate styles featured techniques. The hands of the karate student make a circling motion coming to a stop at the end of the block to form a shape with both hands that resemble a tiger’s mouth.

Requirements

Must have

• - Japanese martial arts feel. Not Chinese.
• - use maple leaf
• - This camp is held in the summer so please have a summer weather / outdoor / nature tone as well.
• - Layouts: Has to fit multiple platforms such as social media, tee shirts, website design including banners.
• - Keep the log simple enough for printing on tee shirts and embroidery

Nice to have

• - Have an image that can also be separated from the text “camp toraguchi.” I think this maximizes versatility. For example, just the image can sit on the left chest of a tee shirt while on the back is the full logo with identification text.
• - Ideas: I have thought of combining hands and tigers. Maybe in the logo we can draw hands in the actual shape of a tiger’s mouth?
• - The colour red
• - Our Karate style is Goju Ryu, which translates to “hard soft style.” It’s symbolic of balance like the yin and yang. Have a sense of balance somehow.
• o I also like the idea of Japanese writing/characters aka: Kanji - "Toraguchi" written in Japanese would be a cool feature.
• o Other image ideas: katana / tori gate (please google) / samurai / sun / karate belts / karate uniform / sai (the weapon that ninja turtle Rafael uses)
