Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for a new company based in New York City called McDonough Communications. We specialize in content analysis, namely how to message clearly, concisely and with purpose. The basic premise is to "write smarter"; i.e., to have a plan going into the content creation process. Our specialty is financial communications, Wall Street specifically; but our efforts transcend industry and are equipped for different audiences.

The final design should communicate voice, efficiency and discipline. What we're trying to do is maximize the writer's time and impact while giving the reader a memorable, facilitated experience. The target market are financial professionals with limited time, so we need something memorable; something differentiated that's going to stick with people.

We lean toward using a letter mark or abstract logo; our main criteria there is that it be something that sticks with people. There are plans to broaden the project into other communicative areas at a later date, so we would like to come up with something that will transcend various mediums, namely digital.

Must have

• M or McD and the idea of communication. I'm looking for clean lines; something efficient and streamlined.

Nice to have

• If the words "McDonough Communications" can be incorporated in an efficient, streamlined manner, great; if not, no big deal. I understand they're lengthy. Plus, I think I'm looking for more of a memorable image.

Should not have

• I'm going for a professional look, so I'd like to stay away from anything that doesn't convey a serious tone.
