Trade Show Booth Design Brief

We need a design for the 8 foot (tall) by 10 foot (wide) backdrop for a trade show booth for our new company, myGrapevine. We provide a web-based service to towns to help them communicate with their citizens and keep them informed.

myGrapevine lets citizens in a town indicate the specific topics (i.e. 3rd grade after school activities; the town finance committee) in which they are interested. Messages are then routed to them, via email or text message, whenever someone in the town government, school system or "approved organization" (like the Boy Scouts or the PTO ...) drafts a message on this subject.

Messages can come from three types of organizations - town government, the school system, or community-based organizations. Examples of potential "authors" of messages include High School, Middle School, Elementary School, Library, Town Hall, Recreation Department, Scout House, etc.

The platform provides significant convenience to citizens (one place to go to sign up for information) and prevents them from feeling like they are being spammed. It also provides significant convenience for towns, who can take control of their outgoing messages, and expand the reach of their communications.

We are selling the service to officials of town government in Massachusetts at their annual trade show. It's a completely new product - they've never heard of it before, and there are no other services currently that do the same thing. The service is up and running in one town, with about 2,000 subscribers.

Two of the key concepts we want to communicate are:

"Building Community Through Communications"

and

"Towns/Schools/Community in your citizens' inbox".

If there is only room for one concept, the first is more important (and perhaps the second can be described graphically).

You can go to www.mygrapevine.org to get a sense for our color schemes and some of our existing graphics. I have uploaded two files - our logo, and the little chat insignia that is part of the logo. On the website, the text portion of the logo is generated on the fly, because it changes for each town (for the town of Weston, the logo reads 'westonGrapevine', for example). The characteristics of the text are as follows:

font-family: Arial;
font-size: 50px;
font-weight: bold;
letter-spacing: -5px;

Target Market(s)

Officials of town governments (i.e. town managers, town administrators). Possibly elected officials like mayors or town selectmen.
