Web Design Brief

55watches.com will sell fashion watches up to £30 ($50 USD) for men and women.

Skeleton HTML/CSS has already been coded using the 960 grid system and screen shots are included in this brief. You must design the page elements for the site and create a logo.

The design must be contemporary and fun and must be gender neutral.

You will need to deliver PSD files with elements and layers along with the individual elements converted to PNG images ready for use on the site.

Your design ideas will be reviewed daily.

= Page Layout

The 12 column 960 grid CSS system must be used in your page mockups to match the skeleton HTML/CSS already coded and shown in the screen shots.

The pink background bars in the screen shots show how the page elements line up along column boundaries. The black borders on some page elements are only used to visually show the separate areas of the page to make HTML/CSS development easier and are not required in your design!

Your deliverables must include PSD files with a layer showing the 960 grid bars that can be obtained from the 960 site (http://960.gs/img/12_col.gif).

The page layout is fixed width, centered. A background image maybe used in your design if you wish.

The pixel sizes of page elements in the screen shots must be maintained in your design. i.e. size of the hero image, size of the item image, etc.

= Fonts

@font-face will be used in production.

Therefore you can pick up to two fonts from http://openfontlibrary.org/ for
use in your design. These fonts must be used for the item navigation menu, and for the styling headline text such as the item title, form title, and other text at your discretion.

= Page header

Logo

- Graphic image
- should incorporate '55watches' type.

Global menu links in top right of view (SignIn, etc).

- This must include a 'basket' graphic icon. It should be no smaller than 16x16 pixels.

- the basket icon and item links could he highlighted visually to show importance of the basket link basket information (qty of items and basket price).

- These links will be implemented as anchor tags and maybe styled using a web-font or kept as a web safe font.

Shop category navigation bar (All, Men, Women, etc).

- These are important links and the size should be no smaller than a CSS font size of 18px.

- Anchor tags will be used in the HTML/CSS for each category link. The link must be styled using a web-font to make them visually interesting. A visual indicator of when the link is currently selected must be shown. e.g. a different background colour, or an underline.

List sort order (price high-low, low-high)

- Could be a graphic or web font style. A style must be provided to show when the link is currently selected.

2. Category Page

Styling for item boxes that contain a item image, item title, short
description, price and add to basket icon graphic link. This icon should be 24x24 pixels or larger.


3. Item Page

Styling for item image border and item description box. The description box style should visually separate the title (style with a web font) the description text, and the price and add to basket icon.

The add to basket icon is the same as the category page.

4. Basket Contents Table

This must include -

Style for basket table header (Item, Qty, etc).

Icons, 16x16 or larger -

'x' icon used to remove item from basket
'+' icon used to add 1 to item qty
'-' icon used to substract 1 from item qty

Horizontal (and optionally vertical borders) to visually seperate each line in the basket (this could be a simple as a 1px border).

Styling of basket summary information - shipping price, total price.

5. Register Page Form

Styling for form title, and field titles and form submit button.

This style from this form will be re-used for all forms.


= Deliverables

Photoshop PSD files (ideally CS2 compatible, but if not possible then CS3/4/5 also OK). PNG images ready for use on the site.
