Logo Design Brief

I need a logo design for a political candidate who's name is J.D. Mesnard. He has been an elected official for the past 4 years and is likely to be the next Speaker of the House. He is looking to great this own brand.

In his discussion with me. He likes his current "logo" which he did several years ago. He would like to have a contemporary "icon element" that has a version of the U.S. Flag with either the stars, stripes, or both.

The preference is to have a logo that can be reversed out (light lettering on blue background) on a yard 18x24 inch yard sign, a 4x8 foot sign, or a 4x4 foot sign.
