Web Design Brief

BACKGROUND
• We are migrating over from an old website and URL ( www.ideaspace.co.nz ) to a brand new website with a new URL – www.venyou.co.nz
• We have already selected a logo for the new website – see attached.
• We manage all our websites in house using Dreamweaver and want to retain the capability of doing this for the new site.

BRIEF
• Design the new look venyou website for our company including color palette, fonts, icons, graphics and layout.

• The design should reflect our high quality venue hire services to corporate buyers, picking up inspiration from our beautiful new logo

• The index page should also incorporate our:

o What We Do page
o How To Use Our Site page
o Are you a venue? content (with link to the 'List A Venue' page)
o Our key contact links
o Our navigation menu

Here are some examples of the types of Index pages that appeal to us:

What we like about it: Like the simplicity of the page and the scroll function to show different page elements.

What we like about it: Strong blocks of hero images and fonts. Easy scroll from one section to the next.

Our version would be:
1. Our logo centre page with hero image background
2. Scroll down to 'what we do' section with 3 bullet points and icons
3. Scroll down to 'how to use this site' section with 3 bullet points (1,2,3) and instructions
4. Are you a venue? instructions about how to talk to us about listing. And link to the 'how to list' page.

To the left we would want a burger menu with dropdown nav and links

• Design the template for the 'venue listings' pages
o We want to list venues by towns or cities and have one page dedicated for each. We would create each page from the template you provide.
o When the user clicks on any particular venue it clicks through to the individual venue page
o This page should have a map with pins for each listed venue

What we like about it: Strong blocks and font. Nice hover feature changing the colour and introducing the click through arrow on the right bottom corner

What we like about it: Don’t like the colours or design but like the practicality of the search box and the 3 column listings when you select a search criteria. This is a familiar format and maybe easier for the user to understand and navigate around.

What we like about it: Like the simplicity of this page but our listings would need a little more info beneath each one. The hover function is annoying!


• Design the template for the individual venue pages.
• Include a search function across the full site so that users can choose to search for venues in different towns or cities.
• Design the booking form pages for the individual venues (we have working examples of our existing ones)

• Design the payment page and thank you page for those who complete the booking form online. (We will be offering the option on our site to pay by credit card into our paypal account) We have working examples of our current thank you and payment page although the payment page is not live on our current site.

TECHNICAL
• Pages need to be created in html and css. Some php pages, as required for payment pages. And some javascript for all pages.

• Templates will need to be in dwt format, as we need to be able to upload to Dreamweaver CC and create new pages from the templates for new venues as and when necessary.

• Pages should be responsive for browsing across PC’s Laptops, ipads, phones and other devices.

• Website will be hosted on a Linux server when ready to go live.

A) We can provide existing website files if these help with the design and build process of the new site.
B) We plan to build additional features for the site, as a second phase project. This would include client login areas and electronic confirmations of bookings and online updating of booking forms.

Requirements

Must have

• See the brief provided. Successful designer/developer must be able to supply files in html, css, php (if required) and include javascript coding where necessary. We will be hosting these files and managing the site using Dreamweaver CC so full accessibility to the files is important.

Nice to have

• Notes have been added to the brief. Please read and ask questions if not clear.

Should not have

• We are not looking for a site to be built using an open source platform. The files provided must be able to be uploaded to our own server for our own management after the end of the project.
