Logo Design Brief

Hi! I need a logo for my next venture... a small lodge in the heritage listed town of Braidwood NSW.
We say, 'Braidwood is and OLD town founded by BOLD characters looking for GOLD.
We want the logo to reflect the historic nature of the building and local scene, but not be twee or tired.
The fitout is of the highest quality, but we don't want the logo to be pompous or too opulent -but it does need to be strong and reflect quality (nothing budget).
I basically just want people to feel welcome and instantly at home.

-typographic or font based or both: able to sit together or be used separately (just words or just pic)
-strong colours please: not brown, burgundy or heritage green... something more modern (the building has just been repainted in a three-tone grey/black/white scheme)
-modern and eye-catching: not just another boring lodge/motel/B&B.

I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Must have

• Simple and refined yet dynamic
• Strength to be applied to a range of online and printed materials (but not really merchandise)

Nice to have

• Something a bit quirky or unexpected -I want it to be personable

Should not have

• Plleeeeeeaaaaassssssseeeee no horses, gold rush icons or twee pics.
• No typical 'heritage' colours like dark green, navy or dull brown (however brown and another colour could be ok). Also no 'lolly' colours such as pink, purple, yellow.
