Book Cover Design Brief
This book is titled, "Leading Yourself: Succeeding from the Inside Out." It would be of the same size as PPE and will run to about 200 pages.
Here is a description to go on the back cover, which will give you some idea of the book's contents and value:
"The world we work in has now changed: it's more Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA), and most of us are still engaging with our work in old ways. The VUCA world of work has crept up on most of us. As a result, many are suffering from time poverty, distraction and weariness, all leading to a sense of hopelessness. It is becoming overwhelming.
This book sets out a new emergent way of working which helps us all not merely to just get by, but to prosper and grow. We don't need to work faster, bigger, cheaper; we can simply choose to change the way we engage with our work."
In terms of the book structure, it is divided into two major parts:
A. The Physics of Self-Leadership. This covers margins, space, time and energy, the major dimensions with which knowledge workers manage their lives. This is the visible area where we can get "quick wins" of productivity.
B. The Soul of Self-Leadership, covering one's Identity, Presence, Destiny, and handling Relationships. These aspects of the soul, if shaped well, provide a more sustained, free life leadership.
You will find a couple of graphics I'm using within the book.

Requirements
Must have
- Design in Adobe InDesign or Illustrator. I'm looking for a clean, modern look.
- The ISBN for the book will be 978-0-9927114-3-6 so the barcode on the back cover should be designed accordingly.
- The book synopsis (above in Project Description) should be on the back cover along with space for two or three short quotes.
- The overall effect should be fresh and positive.
Nice to have
- My previous book cover (see the upload) worked well. I'd like something in this house style. The fresh and positive sense could be around the concept of "freedom."
- As an example, I've uploaded an example cover that I admire: Greg McKeowan's Essentialism.
- In the subtitle, the word "Succeeding" is a strong one. I'd like it to be emphasised somehow.
- Also, the cover should imply positive, hopeful anticipation. I've added some illustrative graphics (stock photography from Fotolia) to give you an idea.
Should not have
- Please, no corney stock photography, particularly men in suits.
