Logo Design Brief

A café located in a popular township in the picturesque Adelaide Hills region. well established over 30 years and has regular customer based of local older residents. situated in a small open air arcade adjacent a courtyard with fountain. Café needs a new emphasis without losing established customers. Young families are starting to frequent the café along with group gatherings eg mothers/books clubs, hills bus tours. Food is traditional café style with all day breakfasts, light meals, coffee, cake, tea, baguettes, cakes, biscuits and slices. Emphasis on retaining old favourites with seasonal specials and healthier eating. Representing value to money and a friendly home away from home atmosphere. Whilst the décor is dated and a bit tired it is well loved by customers (based on a questionnaire we undertook last year). There is an open fire which attracts increased customers during the winter months. Refer attached photos for reference. The branding of the café has varied over the years and has ended up with a hotchpotch of images, colours, fonts and signage. we need a new brand and hence logo to represent old traditions but new directions. Colour scheme black, white, red. the logo will need to be multipurpose and used on business cards, loyalty cards, brochures, menu, outdoor and indoor signage. the design needs to represent food, comfort, community and a place to go for a conversation.

Requirements

Must have

• Clear and easy to read. Colour scheme predominantly black and white with red. Easily transferable to other forms eg the header for a menu and A frame signage. Clear as to services offers, contemporary not futuristic.

Nice to have

• Ability to build on the design into value add product, cake signs etc maybe using different parts, colours. Different font (Monotype Cosova has been used in the past for café name.

Should not have

• Coffee cups, complex fonts or images, cluttered
