When you say diverse group of kids do you just mean two of different nationalities? Otherwise it would seem a bit unfair if there were more children and only two were able to share the one ice-cream!
Plus as there is only a small budget which isnt guranteed is it ok if I submit b/w line first? If you like the submissions and would like me to colour I would appreciate the payment being guaranteed as there are 7 illustrations for just $150.

Hi Wendie, thank you for your interest and your message.  You make a great point about the group of kids versus just two.  The story is really about just two kids, but my goal is for children of all backgrounds to see themselves in the illustrations.  Can you do a South Asian child and an East Asian child as the main characters, and include children of other backgrounds in the illustration without making them as prominent (for example a Black child and White child could be eating ice cream at another table?)  I''m open to your ideas and creativity, Wendie!  I think color is important as I would like to see the different skin tones, but I have no problem guaranteeing the payment.  I''ll do that right now. Hi Dayle, thank you for your interest in the project!  I''m actually quite open to your creativity, so either way is fine with me - either a group of children surrounded by the items, or various children holding various of the items.  My goal is for any child of any background to relate to at least one of the characters on the page.  Thank you again and I really look forward to seeing your interpretation of the story!
