Logo Design Brief
Since 1976 we have been making racing jackets and caps.
We do not want to change the HYLAND text. We included the raw file of our current logo so you can use it in your proposal.
Or goal is to have an "Icon" that represents our brand that is racing jackets and caps.
The current star logo can be incorporated in the new icon but I am open to other creative ideas.

I think you should stick with your Hyland font as is, but get rid of the star. There's opportunity to put some "race colours" through some of the letters - so you have a simple logo that also identifies a little of what you do. Have some of he letters filled in with the patterns of some of the famous colours you've done.
