The Coexist logo was designed in 2000 by Polish graphic designer Piotr Mlodozeniec as an entry for a poster competition for The Museum on the Seam, a socio-political contemporary art museum in Jerusalem.
According to Wikipedia: ''Mlodozeniec's attorneys maintained that he owned the copyright to the image. Separately, The Museum on the Seam, which sponsored the competition in which the original image first appeared in public, claimed legal rights to the image.''end of quote

More details here (just google coexist+copyrights): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coexist_(image)

I understand that you wanted the word ''coexist'' containing the 3 religious symbols, but without modifiyng the initial design of the polnish designer, there are legal issues involved. You also specified in the brief that you want ''something new'' - well, looks like it's a 16 years old logo ;)

Thanks. What do you suggest?

You can choose another design.
Or you could re-open the project. It's your logo after all, you must decide ;)

Hey CH: Check this out... www.vox.com/2016/6/8/11867438/coexist-logo-bumper-sticker
Think about it.
Then consider to really stand out and differentianting your brand by assessing a different approach to the same concept.
Just saying...
