We seek a Wordpress website template for Digital Heritage Mapping (DHM) a 501(c)(3) non-profit in the emergent field of spatial humanities dedicated to digitally preserving global historic and cultural sites. A unique collaboration between individuals in diverse disciplines (academia, technology, arts, and social entrepreneurship), DHM melds age-old scholarship with 21st Century technology to assert the importance of physical location to the understanding of history. This actualized focus allows for a more comprehensive, interactive, and “living” reconstruction of the past than previously thought possible.
DHM, through its own initiatives as well as those of others to whom it provides services, has created a prototype for digital preservation applicable to every country, culture, and subject matter. The organization is
• Pioneering new technology and multimedia techniques for documenting historic and cultural sites;
• Leading international field expeditions to geo-locate and digitize sites, as well as record eyewitness testimony; and
• Transforming research data into dynamically new educational applications.
The template should have a distinctive homepage, themed pages (about, news, projects, opportunities), and no blog elements (e.g., comment section). Admin friendliness is a plus.
We have posted separately for a logo design, which will perhaps feature a scattering of pixels horizontally that gradually cohere to form a globe (featuring "DHM") in the center. To participate in that contest see: http://jobs.designcrowd.com/job.aspx?id=15895
Updates
Project Deadline Extended
Reason: A site map will be posted soon to aid in developing the website. The designs so far, especially the most recent ones, are very impressive. The deadline extension is not a sign of dissatisfaction (as, unfortunately, it is with a couple of our other contests that have received no submissions. Please submit soon!). On the contrary, we are getting very close and merely extending the deadline to ensure time to consider new proposals, refine the designs we have, and answer any questions or comments. We look forward to reviewing your designs for this important project. Thank you!

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: While many of the designs submitted thus far are interesting, we would like to see additional submissions based on the symbol in this logo (http://www.designcrowd.com/image.aspx?imageLocation=26852_432728_15895_image.jpg&type=design300px). An extension of 10 days has been set. We would like this to be the final extension, and hope a worthy design emerges to justify guarantying the contest as soon as possible.
This website's design should be clean, minimalist, and befitting a research institute. The winning design will convey information without getting in the way or complicating the user experience. Please try using the "Byington" font. Feel free to ask questions or submit rough ideas for feedback.
Thank you and Good Luck!
