Logo for Online Architecture Resource (eboss)
Logo Design Brief
eboss is freshening up its look and as such needs a new logo.
We are an online resource for architects and architectural designers seeking information on building products. They use our library of technical information and CAD downloads when designing projects and read our product news and blogs for education and inspiration on which building products to use in their designs.
We want to seem modern, acknowledging our online presence and relationship architecture and design. This will be used on a new website we're developing, on videos, business cards and the occasional printed item.

Requirements
Must have
- "eboss" or "EBOSS" (prefer lower case as it looks softer).
A soft orange - #FDB515. This acknowledges our historical orange branding but softens it to modernise it.
Must be vector and legible at a small size.
Nice to have
- See the attached image of logos we like.
The colour scheme is envisaged as being primarily comprised of orange that preferably could be used as a white or black plain colour if ever necessary.
Like architecture, abstract explorations of shape and form could be a starting point.
We like modern sans-serif typefaces and are going to use Frutiger as part of our new brand identity, but are open to creativity.
Should not have
- We like simple colour schemes - not a big fan of strong gradients.
EBOSS (pronounced "e-boss") was originally an acronym for "electronic building online specification site" but it's not very clear what that means so we don't want to acknowledge it.
We also don't want any designs that emphasise "e" and "boss" as separate a we don't want people to think it stands for "electronic boss".
We don't want imagery that makes us look like anything we're not, e.g. a construction company.
There is a tendency for orange to look like safety or roadworks. We wish to avoid this.
