Hi there!
I’m an Up and Coming Freelance Australian Photographer based in Toronto, Canada.
My background however, is in motion.
The logo idea I’ve attached after much consideration speaks for itself mostly; in that it’s a cinematic framing (photography or motion) and the centre circle for focus point is actually an artistic Zen circle, which I describe below. All the info I want in the logo is in the attached drawing I did.
I need a Logo to give a sense of branding and identity to my imagery. This logo will be used for my business card; on my wordpress website; in my signature on emails etc.
(I even have the hope I can stick the logo things ie. a t-shirt (if & when I shoot a video - small production stuff, I could potentially get the shirt printed on a tshirt.)
Suffice to say, stills & motion is a creative and technical field. If you’re looking to my attached reference points (and apologies for my terrible drawing) - the meaning of the Zen (Buddhist) circle in the painting, ensō, symbolizes a moment when the mind is free to simply let the body/spirit create. The brushed ink of the circle is usually done on silk or rice paper in one movement.
The idea of it being an artistic, natural-ish (and by that I mean ‘by hand’) swirl / circle Really appeals to me. But I’m not clinging to this idea. If you see if slightly differently, by all means offer up an alternative. But i’d love to see this actualized before departing from the original concept. (actually, my logo idea has morphed immensely from my first consideration).
And the Zen Buddhist painting, ensō, is so poignant to me because at this time in my life I’m at a place where inner peace and calmness in your breathe allow me to focus on my work. So it occured to me that it was in a way, the focal point of my life and the basis of the imagery I will hopefully continue to create.
I hope this speaks to you.
Thank you So much for your time and energy considering and investing in my idea and (helping me) to further my career.
My work:
I shoot mainly stills. I do a lot of assisting, although that doesn’t need to be reflected in the logo. I rather it not, in fact.
Motion is my background and I continue to do the odd HD video project and edit..
UPDATE:: I apologise I forgot to mention I need my contact info somewhere in the logo too.
That is:
(mobile) 647 971 4344;
(email) stuart@stuartblain.com
(website) www.stuartblain.com
And my name "Stuart Blain" could be moved from where i wrote it on my bad drawing to being part of the Zen circle? I was thinking inside the paint? Not inside the circle. Although you could try that as a variation too.
Updates
Small update to designers: this logo will appear on the reverse of my business card. Front: is a vertical / portrait picture. Email me stuart@stuartblain.com for the sample size because i'd like the background the same dark colour as is in the picture.
