IMPORTANT

Dear Designers

Thank you for your submissions so far. Based on how we are seeing the logomark interact with fonts, we have made a decision to abandon the calligraphy based butterfly. Please do not submit anymore designs with this concept. Sorry for any inconvenience or confusion caused to you.

We will be looking for a simple logo that reflects mainly the name in a bold, elegant, and feminine style. The brief will be updated shortly.

Thanks.

Dear Designers

When submitting designs, please do not put more than ONE design per submission. It is difficult to evaluate a design when it is cluttered as 2, 3, 4 or even more per square. Pls follow these guidelines:

1. One design per submission (feel free to submit all variants as separate submissions)
2. Don't use up the whole square, leave a lot of white space so the design can be absorbed and evaluated
3. Only in later revisions, where we are evaluating A vs B variants, can we consider multiple numbered options per submission.

Thanks

I have an idea I wonder whether someone can execute and try out. This is just an idea, not a direction for everyone to follow. I would like to see it as a variant / possibility among all the designs.

The idea is to have some mirror image symmetry between the last A in Sofia and the first A in Ammor in the name. I will sketch something and upload as Attachment #2 shortly.

Thanks for humoring me.

Further to my last update - File 2 with a rough idea has been added now. Thanks

NOTE TO DESIGNERS

Pls follow these submission guidelines:

1. black on white or grey on white only (for now)
2. use the white space of the submission box - do not make logos too large
3. DO NOT submit multiple applications of the same logo - this adds a lot of clutter to the submission review.

Thank you.

Dear Designers

Sorry I was not able to send comments yesterday as I was very busy. I hope got back to many of you today; I am all caught up.

We now have an excellent set of submissions with many good designs. Here is the update on our design direction for any future submissions, based on what we have seen and learned over the past few days:

1. We are now 100% focused on a typographical logo. This means there is no need for a logomark. The design work and visual impact will be in the font style and customization of letters in SOFIA AMMOR.

2. We are open to ALL CAPS, Small Caps or sentence case. I think we are leaning away from all lowercase letters.

3. The font chosen can be modern, graphic sans serif / classical / or a signature handwritten style. We also encourage people to customize the fonts as appropriate. The design will be in the choice, spacing, adaptation etc. of letter forms themselves. We also encourage customization in the form of connecting letters, words, etc. or customizing letters in a unique way to create a distinctive look (as an example, look at YvesSaintLaurent logo).

4. We prefer colors such as black on white, or grey on white.

5. We prefer for both words to be on a single line, on the same plane. However, we could consider 2 line or staggered words. We haven't seen many of these kinds of submissions so it is hard to judge. In some fonts, such a layout could be successful.

6. The overall look and feel must be simple, elegant and upscale. These are expensive dresses and the label / logo has to speak to elegance, simplicity, and good taste. Do NOT overcomplicate the logo. If you are focusing on a specific font for the logotype, add a single signature element or flourish, but keep it restrained and don't add too many elements in the same design.

7. I am sorry I am giving very curt, direct feedback. It is difficult for me to write detailed notes or long sentences with so many submissions. I do not mean to be disrespectful or impolite in any way at all. Thank you for understanding.

Thanks again and continue the great work - Good luck!

Dear Designers

Please note that the designer fashion logos PDF (examples) has been expanded to 3 pages. Again, you will see most logos are type-based only (no logomark), and black & white color scheme.

We have a winner!

Thank you designers for all your hard work, edits and terrific submissions. We shortlisted about 15 designs, all of which were excellent, and were finally down to 2-3 designs.

In the end we went for something elegant with a touch of femininity and a very subtle hint of calligraphy and Middle Eastern influence. Sofia preferred this over more modern, angular designs.

Thank you all!
