Logo Design Brief
We need a new logo as I plan to take over the business my father has built over the last 20 years in the Vancouver, BC, Canada area with which has never had a properly documented corporate identity...
I have attached a logo I found which is roughly what I would like to see... however I am open to other interpretations.
Updates
Just wanted to thank all the designers for their efforts... I just received a few more designs in the last day or two and am impressed with your creativity. I have essentially narrowed it down to 2 or 3 designs and have asked for some changes for a couple of you to get a better visualization of the logos in different variations... I though I would decide by today but I will wait until Monday - if I have asked for some changes I would appreciate it if you could make them by Sunday night so I have Monday to review it with some colleagues and friends before I decide.

Had to eliminate many designs to narrow down to manageable field of contenders. Thanks for all the designs. Will need a couple more days to discuss with friends and decide on the winner.

Must have
- I envision a maximum of 3 colors... a graphical logo to the left or right of the corporate name in some sort of type font - likely "Sunwest" in large font with "drywall + stucco" in small font below it. I like the "+" better than "&" as it gives it a more modern flavour.
The "logo" must be appropriate on letterhead, website, business card and clothing (the industry loves t-shirts especially golf shirts, jackets and hats).
Given the name "Sun" and "West" I think some element of these two words should be intrinsic in the design but I don't necessarily want a blazing sun as the logo - but then again who knows what will look right until it's drafted right? :-)
Nice to have
- Final design should communicate "Pride and Quality" either graphically or through the proper use of fonts, colors and shapes (and ideally the written form could be added to the logo on a website banner in some fashion so keep this in mind)
This has been my dads hallmark and motto since starting on his own and which I plan to continue into the future...
Should not have
- I expect no fading color backgrounds, fancy lettering, weird colors, or hammer and nail type logos
