Web Design Brief
Herbal Destination wants proposals to design and develop a new website, tying together the visuals and branding message initiated with the package design. The goals of this website will be to provide an excellent user experience, to make the website a vital source of information that
will be indexed by the search engines and to facilitate and encourage consumer confidence.
The design and function of the website will be instrumental in generating knowledge of and trust in the product line.
Our current website Herbaldestination.com is an informational and transactional website. We are looking to completely overhaul the informational side. The products we sell are unique combinations of Ayurvedic herbal supplements. They are very effective and of a superior quality. However, the current website in all fairness is "blah". The site should be professional, visually enticing, reliable and efficient, compatible with virtually any computer that connects to it and makes for a first rate impression to our customers.
We want a website which will relay to the customer the effectiveness and superior quality of our products. We want the site to engage the customer. The website needs to be an experience and to connect to the customer emotionally. It is a tall order but it is what we need to deliver our message. A majority of the traffic comes from people already interested in a particular condition that our product is used for. Our goal is for the customer to be convinced that the solution is our product which it is in most cases.
The design should be able to handle fields that are currently on the site, like article links to external sites, video clips on products, specials, etc. The site is currently powered on the back end by .NET 4.0 with MVC architecture and this we hope to continue. Also, the text to HTML has to be a very good ratio.
The current pages are very well indexed and search engine optimized and that concept has to be preserved. At this point, we do not want to build a separate mobile version so flash is not an option.
Updates
Pleas come up with original ideas and not just refreshing currently what I have.

Pictures used need to be realistic. Faces are ok to use but not necessary. The picture/graphic needs to communicate effectiveness and high quality of products. Also the overall look and feel needs to be addressed. Please don't take existing part of current website and paste onto new one.

We are disappointed in the overall designs received. They all look like cut and paste websites. One that we did like was showing herbs held in the hand. We are not opposed to faces being shown but it has to look "real". Also the space below the picture needs to be developed more. We are not focusing on transactions on this website although a link will be provided for those interested in purchasing.

After reviewing all designs, it seems showing herbs/flowers/nature is a better way to go. The picture of women makes our company look more like a spa which is not our intent.
