Logo Design Brief
I need a logo for Barnswallow Books my recently opened, independent bookstore on the Maine Coast. The bookstore is located in a restored mid-19th century farmhouse with a large attached barn. The structure overlooks Rockport Harbor and the views are terrific.
I am looking for simplicity and want a strong design that will look great on business cards, t-shirts, website, etc.

Must have
- A unique rendition of a swallow. I prefer strong designs like woodcuts or Arts & Crafts tile paintings. I also prefer a static posed bird over a swooping or flying bird.
- The bookstore is in a classic 'New England' village with mid-19th century homes. I envision using my logo (in addition to usual ways) on a wooden plaque much llike an English pub sign
Nice to have
- I would like to be able to include the store motto: carpe librum
Should not have
- I do not want a typical swallow designs of the type seen in boring tattoos.
