Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance (MVEDA) is one of the leading economic development agencies in New Mexico. We serve all communities of Doña Ana County’s 3,815 sq. miles of land, located in southern New Mexico, adjacent to El Paso and Mexico. The purpose of this postcard is to recruit potential food processing companies located in California to explore the potential expanding to Doña Ana County. We are looking for a two-sided, color oversize postcard (8.52” x 5.47”) with address section to help promote our region.
Our initial design concept for the front would be a child riding a roller coaster afraid with a main message stating something along the lines of “Having trouble stomaching the California Business Climate?” and a second line saying “Shouldn’t doing business be more enchanting….” Our company logo would also need to be placed in the front somewhere.
The back of the postcard would show some sort of excited/happy child about food with the main message being “Let us show you a better place!” Our company contact information should be placed somewhere on the back
Alternatively imagery could show a sad or crying child standing in the rain or other bad weather. Message could include “tired of the business climate in California?” Second image on reverse side could show child playing in the sun with the same tagline “Shouldn’t doing business be more enchanting”.
These are ideas and we encourage the creativity of the design community in suggestions on getting this message through.
The following information would need to be added on the back postcard.
Ernst & Young recently ranked New Mexico “Best in the West for Manufacturing” Doña Ana County has the following to offer your company.
Doña Ana County is home to 2,184 (UP 24% from 2007) farms with over 659,000 acres of farmland (Up 12% since 2007). We are one of the top producers in the U.S. for pecans and chile, the second largest vegetable producer in NM, and home to one of the top five largest dairies in the country.

We are very open to other artistic ideas to get our message across beyond visual concepts of roller coaster rides as long as it depicts or translates the message of a better opportunity and business climate in Doña Ana County than their current location. The facts on the back must stay the same but the main tagline message on front and back can be replaced to better fit the images chosen for the postcard. Also note that the tagline originally proposed plays on New Mexico’s nickname “Land of Enchantment.” Special symbolism that illustrates creative messaging that can incorporate local community or statewide meanings in favor of New Mexico will be given preference, but this is not a requirement.
